Lisa, from Austria, and Steve, a Norfolk local, together with their two children, are the family behind Offshore Cottages.

We met in one of the world’s most unexpected settings, high in the Himalayas. Both travelling independently, our paths crossed at precisely the right moment during a shared trek around the Annapurna Circuit. Surrounded by vast mountain scenery and an unforgettable view, our story began.

Although our journey has taken us across the world, it was North Norfolk that ultimately captured our hearts and became home.

Norfolk has a rare ability to slow time. Expansive skies, an unspoilt coastline and a sense of space that feels increasingly precious. Here, life softens, the pace eases, and the everyday gently falls away.

Offshore Cottages is not simply a collection of places to stay, it is the continuation of our family's story.

The Haven was once Steve's parents’ family home, while The Ramey was lovingly acquired to preserve it from development. When Steve’s mother retired, the cottage became her private art studio.

Her artwork forms the soul of our cottages. At nearly 70, she returned to university to study fine art , a lifelong ambition realised. Inspired by the shifting light and textures of the Norfolk coast, her paintings now grace every property, subtly connecting each space to its surroundings.

Each cottage carries its own legacy, shaped by family life, creativity and time. Thoughtfully restored and elegantly styled, they are designed to feel calm, welcoming and quietly luxurious. Spaces for long breakfasts, coastal walks, sea air drifting through open windows, and moments of stillness.
